Scissors, glue and too much free time since 1998.
Some newt-worthy news to croak about today! (I know newts don’t croak…they squeak perhaps…ran out of bad puns)
I don’t know how many people remember, but back in 2012, Doug TenNapel began an online comic for Nnewts – (Nnewts.com) I made the site work and coloured the comic in…more stuff happened, and eventually it got a publishing deal under Scholastic. So we carried on working on it, and now it’s a whole book.
A little hero faces big challenges in the first book of this totally unique fantasy-adventure series.
The first book in the Nnewts series follows the story of Herk, a lovable Nnewt who longs for stronger legs, something his mother and father wish they could give him. When his quaint village is attacked by the reptile Lizzarks, he’s forced to flee his home and leave behind the only life he’s ever known. Now, all alone and on the run, Herk navigates a dangerous world filled with strange creatures and mysterious wonders, where friends are few and an evil lord is in hot pursuit.
If you like Doug TenNapel’s other graphic novel work (which is a fancy word for long comic books – it’s not naughty), then I hope you check it out. It is also in full colour, and very amphibious.
Nnewts (book one in a trilogy) by Doug TenNapel is available for pre-order on Amazon – it comes out next year in January.
Nnewts: Book 1
And now for something completely different…
I know this is an Earthworm Jim site (wheeee daaaawwwgggy! and all that jazz), and if that’s why you are here, I apologise in advance. You do not have to read any further.
I made a little section called Stuff & Nonsense for non-Earthworm Jim art recently. It’s on this site, because I don’t want it on my folio site…which needs work. So. Yeah…it feels a bit awkward, but it had to go somewhere.
There is some Legacy of Kain / Soul Reaver art there. If you don’t know what that is, then I hope you check it out too.
Even if you don’t have time to find a copy to play (it’s quite a while ago since they made those games) There are lots of videos for it on Youtube.
It had amazing voice acting from people like Tony Jay, Simon Templeman and Michael Bell to name others. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0215926/fullcredits/)
Legacy of Kain still has a faithful following –
Recently an online game called Nosgoth has been in the works which is canon to the series.
I don’t play online games, but one of the original concept artists helped out with that recently (and he is a really nice guy), so there is something of a revival for it which is nice to see. It would have been awesome to see Kain stomping around again of course.
Anyhow…unless there is something else to waffle about before then, I’ll see you in October hopefully. Well I won’t see you…but…oh never-mind.
