Rocket Worm! - Rocket Worm blog and news section

There is now an Earthworm Jim official Facebook page!

Doug TenNapel is posting Earthworm Jim official art and concepts. Not only that though! With the added bonus of his and his peers memories and creative insights behind each image.

There is a concept and official art gallery here on Rocket Worm. We've only guessed at some of the reasoning behind stuff, so Doug is providing information into the creative development process behind the games and TV show etc., that fans have never really had the chance to know about before.

It's pretty interesting to hear about the underlying thoughts and processes that went into all those things. That's pretty awesome...so get over there if you are on Facebook and join in. :) Continue reading →

Rocket Worm!

Rocket Worm! - Rocket Worm blog and news section

It's been a long time since I did something like this. It's been nearly five years since I re-designed Rocket Worm, and it could do with a new lick of paint since it's Earthworm Jim's 20th anniversary next year...the current look of the site is really bugging me. I wanted to do this for the longest time and kept talking myself out of it. This isn't a priority, but I don't know if I will get another chance to do it if I keep putting it off.

I'm currently working on colouring the graphic novel of Doug TenNapel's Nnewts. We had to put the web comic on hiatus, and he's made it into a graphic novel.
At the beginning of this year, we wrapped up a new colour version of his Graphic Novel Tommysaurus Rex, which is coming out later this summer by Scholastic.

Anyhow after a lot of procrastinating, I started sketching it out...I want to get most of the main characters on it. Not sure at this point how it will turn out...so I'm documenting the progress. Yes it is a little insane. I certainly feel insane doing it, but I've started now so it's too late. I'm not as good as Doug at drawing his characters (obviously!) but I have fun drawing them all the same.

These are sketches which will be coloured and painted...before I do that, they will be arranged into a layout. I'm just sketching them out and getting the tones down on them at this point.

Peter Puppy (turning into a monster), Earthworm Jim, a cow, Psy-Crow, Princess What's Her Name and Evil The Cat. About 10 or more to go. Continue reading →

Rocket Worm!

They are using high tech materials such as wood, carboard, clay...glue. Probably sticky tape.
Doug says that a lot of cardboard boxes are involved!

Keep up to date and stuff at their Facebook page. :)

Rocket Worm! - Rocket Worm blog and news section

Happy new year everyone.

I can't offer a big new year update, or a picture...or some sort of news about Earthworm Jim.

Even though I don't really have time to worry about this silly old site anymore, I'm glad for the genuinely good and creative people who I've communicated online with over the years.

Thank you for visiting and becoming part of something that I started 16 years ago because Athena suggested I try making my own fan site - possibly because I was sending her too much fan art to put up on her site at the time...!

I'm glad there have been other like-minded people to join in with that. It's been a lot of fun. Sometimes it hasn't been fun, but I don't need to talk about the past. It's gone!

Best wishes for 2013. Live your lives, be creative - never give your dreams up for other people. If your dreams change, then go with the flow and change with them. Continue reading →

Rocket Worm!

Rocket Worm! - Rocket Worm blog and news section

Hi there, hope everyone is OK out there. It's been a while since there's been anything to blog about here about Earthworm Jim, so I'm happy to mention it!

Doug TenNapel EWJ

I think we all have our own special pop-culture memories from our childhood that continued with us into adult hood...
For me it was The Flight of Dragons, anything by Jim Henson and then somewhere along the line after playing many old Spectrum and Atari ST games discovering Earthworm Jim in one of those old mail-order book club catalogs that used to come in the post. I remember when the box arrived even to this day..it was a bit battered and worn for some reason but I was happy as a bat in a gumtree from that day on. It became one of my favorite things.

How about you? :)

Now I have lots of other favorite things...Queen (The band), Doctor Who, Devil May Cry (not the new one)...Legacy of Kain, Soul Reaver...seriously the list gets longer as I get older. It's a little daft, but there you go. I'm a bit of a geek...I know. You couldn't tell right?

I will get back to some of things I had planned for this site eventually btw - give it a new lick of paint and all that jazz...I just want to let you know that. I've got a lot of work to get done in the meantime, that's all. That's life. Continue reading →

Rocket Worm!

It will feature the best of all sorts of unseen stuff including early concepts for Earthworm Jim, The Neverhood and Nnewts to name a few.

...They don't just document the birth of characters you've heard of like Earthworm Jim, The Neverhood, Catscratch and Creature Tech, but HUNDREDS of characters and worlds that have never been seen by the public... until now.

Head on to the Kickstarter page for a special video and more information on the project. :)
