About Rocket Worm

Rocket Worm! is an illustrated fan site dedicated to Earthworm Jim. This site was created, written & illustrated by me, Katherine Garner. I am a comic book colourist and Illustrator.

It used to be called "Lemm's Earthworm Jim fan site". In 2006, it was renamed to Rocket Worm! to pay homage to the song "Rocket Man" by Elton John.

This site began its digital life as something I cobbled together in a desktop publishing program. I used to draw a lot of Earthworm Jim fan art when I was younger, and wanted somewhere to put it. I learned how to code html, and this site gradually evolved into its present-day incarnation over the years.

I branched out from only posting fan art, and decided to make it more informative. I added a history section for the games, character biographies, and even ran a little forum for other fans for a time. Over the years I researched Earthworm Jim from gaming magazines and the internet. This site is not as in-depth as a wiki, but hopefully serves as a fair introduction for the video games, 1995 Cartoon Show, comics and toys.

Earthworm Jim

Earthworm Jim Earthworm Jim is a character that was created by Doug TenNapel.

Earthworm Jim found it's first ever origins in 1994 as a video game by David Perry's newly founded Shiny Entertainment.

Shiny began as a team of very talented and skilled artists, illustrators, animators and programmers who had come from various development and animation backgrounds.

The original 1994 video game Earthworm Jim won much acclaim and respect and a sequel was developed afterwards along with a TV Show and Toy line.

After Shiny Entertainment sold the Earthworm Jim rights to Interplay, various entries were created under the name of Earthworm Jim, such as Earthworm Jim 3D and Earthworm Jim Menace 2 The Galaxy. Those video games were created by different developers and were met with a mixed reaction. (Timeline of Earthworm Jim)

For many years Earthworm Jim had slipped into obscurity, but was fondly remembered by fans and video game enthusiasts all over the world.

In 2019, Doug TenNapel was granted the rights to work on Earthworm Jim The Comic Book, and the original development team headed under the president of Intellivision Tommy Tallarico, announced Earthworm Jim 4 which is being developed for the upcoming Intellivision Amico console.
